Legendary or 5 star raids are the toughest Pokémon to catch and catching them involves skill and a little bit of luck. We hope some of our tips will help you improve catch rate.
First of all, make sure your buddy has a great buddy status to help you (catch assist) if your pokeball gets thrown back at you. This shouldn’t be much of an issue if you circle lock and time your curveball throws properly.
Don’t drive or be in a car driving very fast. Some have reported that Pokémon, even shiny legendries will flee if you are in a car traveling over 50 MPH. Shiny Legendary Pokémon should be an automatic catch and a pinapberry is recommended to get more candy.
Give it a golden razzberry to increase your catch rate. Some will say that they alternate different berries but statistically, the golden razzberry has the highest increase in catch rate.

Throw great and excellent curveballs. This will also increase our catch rate. vg247 has a great tutorial on how to do that.
The key is to be patient when attempting to catch legendary Pokémon. We are given a limited amount of pokeballs so taking our time and relaxing may help. Ask anyone who has been playing for a while and they will all say that they had difficult time in the beginning. It does seem like some Pokémon were going to run away regardless. Please understand that it will take practice, practice, and practice. Good Luck!
